Adverse events: How to care for healthcare workers and build resilience and culture in organizations

The session walked the participants through the important elements in caring for healthcare workers. A seminar concept which includes local simulation training was presented that can be used in departments in healthcare to build resilience by preparing employees for events, and at the same time combat a culture of infallibility and promote psychological safety.

Adverse events: How to care for patients, users, families and restore relationships and trust

The poster is a condensation of the guidelines for caring for patients, users and families. It briefly describes the background, context, co-creative development and objectives of the project, and the response it has received. It shows a flow-chart for the process of care, and the distinctions between an expression of regret and an apology, and between sincere and pseudo-apologies, are explained. The guidelines emphasize a restorative approach, and the poster gives some key elements for this.
